The Lyrics that Inspired It All

"And the years passed like scenes of a show, the professor said to write what you know, looking backwards might be the only way to move forward". Taylor Swift, The Manuscript, TTPD, 2024

🤎 right where you left me 🤎 Or more accurately... 🤎 right where you left me 🤎

Or more accurately... right where the NHS left me.

For years, I was told I had PTSD from my car accident. But I didn’t develop a fear of driving—I developed a fear of the medical system meant to help me.

This week’s post is about how @taylorswift lyrics captured the reality of my Post-Concussion Syndrome better than any medical textbook ever could.

I’m sharing how I used Taylor’s words to finally explain the “invisible paralysis” of a brain injury and the soul-crushing medical trauma that followed.

Because where the medical world fails, art speaks. ✨

✨ New Post Today ✨ “🎵 Do you really want to know ✨ New Post Today ✨

“🎵 Do you really want to know where I was April 29th?”🎵

Right here! Posting a new entry on The Life of a Concussion Girl.

Yesterday, the @nytmag reminded us why @taylorswift is - without question- the greatest songwriter of our time.

It’s not just her metaphors; it’s the way she gives a voice to the voiceless. For me, that voice is found in “right where you left me.”

For years, I was told I had PTSD from my car crash, but that label never quite fit. Taylor’s writing helped me process my trauma in a way no medical professional ever could. In a medical system that often refuses to look closer, her lyrics reach into the “restaurant” where I’m still sitting and make me feel seen.

@taylorswift, thank you for giving me the words to describe the trauma I carry. It changed my life. 🤎

🕯️💙Quote of the week 💙🕯️ “Would’ve, Could’ve, Sho 🕯️💙Quote of the week 💙🕯️

“Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve” has always felt like a haunting anthem for the PTSD experience. I relate to it deeply because, for a long time, that was the “easy” label everyone used to define my life after the crash.

But the truth was more complex.
Tomorrow, I’m sharing how @taylorswift’s lyrics helped me realise the real cause of my trauma. It’s about the “stained glass windows” of a brain injury and the “tomb” that won’t close when you’re stuck in medical limbo.

✨ New blog post drops tomorrow. ✨
