✨ New Post Today ✨ When Post-Concussion Syndrome ✨ New Post Today ✨

When Post-Concussion Syndrome abruptly ended my teaching career, my 2023-2024 planner was left open to the day I was supposed to return. For two years, my past was trapped in unpacked boxes—a stark reminder of a life that changed without my permission.

This week’s post is a deeply personal reflection on the grief of forced reinvention, the harsh realities of the education system, and the permanent legacy we leave behind. I’m finally learning that the skills, empathy, and resilience I used in the classroom aren’t fossils of my past—they are the exact tools keeping me afloat today.

If you’ve ever had to say goodbye to a version of yourself you loved, this one is for you.

Walking away from a career because of PCS doesn’t mean the ties are instantly broken. Even with the freedom of a new chapter, the memories and the grief of who I used to be are still here, all over me.

In Wednesday’s post, I’m opening up about facing career loss, confronting the fossils of my past, and navigating the space between who I was and who I am becoming.

See you on the blog!

Living with a brain injury means my nervous system Living with a brain injury means my nervous system is stuck on high alert. Even a simple conversation can feel like a physical threat.

“Swift-coding” my triggers changed everything.

By translating threats into @taylorswift lyrics and wearing them on my wrist, I built a secret language for survival. I don’t wait to crash anymore. I look at my code and walk away.

💬 How do you protect your energy when you enter high alert?
